Secret Garden

Her heart was a secret garden, and the walls were very high. -William Goldman, The Princess Bride

When I took this photograph a few days ago, the first thought that came to mind was ‘secret garden’. I love when a photo takes you somewhere else and makes you think.

Think Happy

Isn’t this little decorative cup (from Target) the cutest thing ever? It’s served many purposes for me since I bought it last summer. I think for now it needs to hold these pretty flowers, and just be cute.  🙂

Also pictured is my Happy Planner Deluxe Cover. I brought it back out for now, because my custom HP cover isn’t quite as think as a regular HP cover, and I want to protect it. I love the white look for summer. Plus, it gives me more decorating options. I am anxiously awaiting my very first Planner Society kit this week. Eek!! You can bet some of those goodies will be popping up in my Happy Planner very shortly….IMG_8432IMG_8435heart_jen

Azalea

Our azaleas in the garden are in full bloom right now. I love how gorgeous these flowers look. Here’s a little info I found about this beautiful flower: a strong symbol of womanhood; softness; fragility; passion; also to take care of oneself. A lovely gift for this Mother’s Day weekend, don’t you think?

This Week in my Happy Planners

Hello! It’s the start of another week already! I can’t believe a week of May is done! I guess maybe it’s harder for me to believe because last week all it did was rain, and our temperatures crashed into the 40’s. Brrr! Bring spring back, asap, thanks.

Anyway, I I am here to share this week’s spreads in my Happy Planner, before the pen. I love this layout in my Classic HP. I cannot get enough of these Mambi florals. I am determined to use all of them. And, flowers are perfect with Mother’s Day coming up this weekend! The xoxo tip-in card is by Heidi Swapp.IMG_8328And here is my Mini HP. I used Recollections stickers here. I keep the decor minimal in this planner, because, for one, it’s super tiny, and I write a daily quote here, so I need room to write.IMG_7353Have a great week ahead! Thanks for stopping by!

Spring

This spring’s weather has been up & down- one day it’s 80 degrees, and the next it’s 45 and with a cold rain. Ugh. But, the garden has not disappointed! Here’s a look at what’s been popping up in the garden so far!

Happiness

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. -Denis WaitleyIMG_7844Isn’t this a beautiful quote? It’s been on my mind recently. Happiness is an inside job. I believe we can use our happiness and turn it into kindness for someone else.

New Books :)

One of my goals for 2017 is to read more. I’m in luck, because it seems like so many creative, interesting books are hitting the shelves right now!

Winter always seems to zap my creativity. So, I decided to invest in a couple of floral photography books.

IMG_7853First up is Paris in Bloom, by Georgianna Lane. I became a fan of hers a few years back when I saw her photography in an Artful Blogging issue. This book is eye candy times 10. I love the different sections in the book and it seriously makes me want to take a trip to Paris in the spring!IMG_7856

IMG_7857The next book I pre-ordered was A Colorful Way of Living by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. Anyone who knows anything about me knows what a huge Vera Bradley fan I have been for the past decade or longer. I met her once in person, and I couldn’t wait to read more about her life and how Vera Bradley began. I recommend this book because it is so positive and uplifting. It makes you feel like you can take on the world after reading a few chapters! Plus, it has some of my fave Vera Bradley prints scattered throughout! A colorful, easy to read book, indeed! IMG_7858I have been trying to get myself back into the botanical photography groove with spring having just arrived. I went back to research some famous, classic botanical photographers and came across Imogen Cunningham. I fell in love with her floral photos immediately! I ordered this book from Amazon. It’s called Flora, and it’s from 2001. It not only has gorgeous photos from the early 20th century, there’s a section that gives details about the flowers themselves. It’s a great, favorite new resource.IMG_7859I also received a signed print with my Paris in Bloom pre-order. It’s hanging in my office right now!  🙂IMG_7879

I hope if you’re looking for a few new books that you consider these. I love all three and can’t wait to find some more new favorites to add to my reading list!

What are you reading these days?
