2017 Scrapbook Expo Review | Akron, OH

Hello!

Last weekend, I attended the Akron, OH Stamp & Scrapbook Expo (for the third year in a row!!). I just wanted to share my haul with you all…

My haul literally took up half of my bed. Soooo much goodness. There were less than 25 vendors, but the ones that were there were pretty current with their selection. Definitely more “planner” related items than I remember last year- and I even took a planner class. Yay!2017 Akron, OH Stamp & Scrapbook Expo | JM CreatesMy favorite purchases were the crystal pens and the washi. I gotta have all the washi!2017 Akron, OH Stamp & Scrapbook Expo | JM Creates

Some of my haul from my classes… they hook you up with the latest & greatest products! I wish I would have taken a couple more classes…

Memories… I can’t wait until next year’s show!

Have you ever attended one of the Stamp & Scrapbook Expos?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mum Fest 2017

Hello! Today I wanted to share a few photos from the annual Barberton, OH Mum Festival at Lake Anna from this past weekend. I went with my mom, and we always look forward to this event every fall. I love being surrounded by flowers, and have such fond memories of Lake Anna from when I was a kid. The only thing bad was that the temperatures were above 90 degrees this weekend! Oh, it was a scorcher out there!!! Enjoy the photos!

Workspace Wednesday

Hello! I have been wanting to do a walk-through of my scrap/planning/craft/office space for about a year now. And, I still want to do one, but then I always want to change something around in my room, so I don’t, and well, here we are. But, I did take a few photos of specific nooks in my room, so I though I would share them today!

I love my desk. It actually belonged to my grandparents. I remember sitting at it when I was a little girl. It seemed a lot bigger back then, but sometimes that’s how it is, isn’t it? It used to be a brown wood color, but my mom painted it a glossy white for me.  🙂Home Office | Jen Manis CreatesMy fancy new chair (from Marshall’s). My Creative Space | Jen Manis CreatesI bought the matching ottoman first, last year from Home Goods. I have been searching for a new chair, and when I found the one above & saw how it matched my ottoman perfectly, well, I was sold!My Creative Space | Jen Manis CreatesThe view from here. Think Happy

Isn’t this little decorative cup (from Target) the cutest thing ever? It’s served many purposes for me since I bought it last summer. I think for now it needs to hold these pretty flowers, and just be cute.  🙂

Also pictured is my Happy Planner Deluxe Cover. I brought it back out for now, because my custom HP cover isn’t quite as think as a regular HP cover, and I want to protect it. I love the white look for summer. Plus, it gives me more decorating options. I am anxiously awaiting my very first Planner Society kit this week. Eek!! You can bet some of those goodies will be popping up in my Happy Planner very shortly….IMG_8432IMG_8435heart_jen

New Books :)

One of my goals for 2017 is to read more. I’m in luck, because it seems like so many creative, interesting books are hitting the shelves right now!

Winter always seems to zap my creativity. So, I decided to invest in a couple of floral photography books.

IMG_7853First up is Paris in Bloom, by Georgianna Lane. I became a fan of hers a few years back when I saw her photography in an Artful Blogging issue. This book is eye candy times 10. I love the different sections in the book and it seriously makes me want to take a trip to Paris in the spring!IMG_7856

IMG_7857The next book I pre-ordered was A Colorful Way of Living by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. Anyone who knows anything about me knows what a huge Vera Bradley fan I have been for the past decade or longer. I met her once in person, and I couldn’t wait to read more about her life and how Vera Bradley began. I recommend this book because it is so positive and uplifting. It makes you feel like you can take on the world after reading a few chapters! Plus, it has some of my fave Vera Bradley prints scattered throughout! A colorful, easy to read book, indeed! IMG_7858I have been trying to get myself back into the botanical photography groove with spring having just arrived. I went back to research some famous, classic botanical photographers and came across Imogen Cunningham. I fell in love with her floral photos immediately! I ordered this book from Amazon. It’s called Flora, and it’s from 2001. It not only has gorgeous photos from the early 20th century, there’s a section that gives details about the flowers themselves. It’s a great, favorite new resource.IMG_7859I also received a signed print with my Paris in Bloom pre-order. It’s hanging in my office right now!  🙂IMG_7879

I hope if you’re looking for a few new books that you consider these. I love all three and can’t wait to find some more new favorites to add to my reading list!

What are you reading these days?

My Current Faves

I thought I’d try something new this month and share some of my current favorite things! These are just things I’ve been obsessing over this month…

Teresa Collins B Collection

The quality is great & the scalloped washi is soo pretty! I am loving the shorter ruler- perfect for bullet journaling! I am going to use the Make it Happen black journal as a blog diary of sorts. These are must-have items in my opinion!

This is Us

When the show started last fall, I was confused by the first episode for some reason. I didn’t think I’d get into the show at all. But, I saw that episode again, and then I kept watching every week, and then I fell in love with the show! Definitely keep the tissues close when you watch this show. I plan on re-watching the season this spring or summer. I can’t wait till it returns in the fall!

Orchids

I get really flower-crazy in late winter because I love flowers!! We went to the orchid show in early March and I can’t wait until the garden starts blooming again.

April the Giraffe

Is anyone else out there as obsessed with April as I am? I love watching her every day, seeing her grow. I love when they feed her and give her time with Oliver. She is so sweet! I wish she could hear me, because sometimes I talk to her! 😂 It makes me want to put cameras in my birds’ cages so I can see what they do all day!

Ed Sheeran ➗

I love this guy’s music! Oh my, he is talented. I love how he can go from a club-hopping sound (Shape of You) to a song that makes you cry (Supermarket Flowers). Love it!

What are some of your current faves?

A Night With Vera Bradley!

I was very lucky to be able to attend this event in Hartville, OH last night! Vera Bradley is my favorite handbag company, hands-down, and I attended a lovely dinner & a night of shopping with my Mom last night. The cofounder of this company was there & it was an inspiring event. Plus, part of the proceeds went to The Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation, so that made the event even more worth it! Here are a few photos from last night. (Can’t wait to scrap them!!)
